Petit Peony Travels: Idyllic Bermuda Getaway at Pompano Beach Club

Ryan and I decided to take the children on a late fall vacation to stock up on some Vitamin D before the long New England winter (which, side note, has officially arrived). Bermuda just seemed like the perfect choice because it met all of the major criteria for traveling with three little people, six years and under: direct flight, warm weather/ tropical feel, safe & family-friendly.

We luckily stumbled across the Pompano Beach Club, beautifully situated overlooking Bermuda’s southwest coast, and decided it would be the perfect spot for our long weekend.

The views from every point of this property will take your breath away, and waking up to the clear, turquoise blue water every morning simply can’t be beat.

WHAT WE LOVED

Secluded Beach
Where crystal clear turquoise water met the softest pink sand your feet have ever stepped foot on is where we spent most of our time. The resort provides rafts to swim out to two small docks – one about 100 yards out, and the other approximately 600 yards out to sea. The Bowen kiddos played here for hours under the warm Bermuda sun (while wearing their Petit Peony UVA/B protective swimwear! It's coming soon!), while mom and dad sipped on refreshing drinks from the beach. The water was perfectly calm and the kids were able to swim freely.

Pool Time
Jack’s favorite amenity at the Pompano Beach Club was (by far!) its multiple hot tubs and pools overlooking the ocean. They were perfect for the little ones, as they were mildly heated and a fun change of scenery. Pompano even had a kiddie pool with water views! All areas were equipped with floats, noodles and toys. The backdrop was perfect for snapping some of our Spring/Summer 2018 product shots.

Accommodations
Every accommodation in this 75-room resort boasts a spectacular ocean view and balcony. The rooms were clean, equipped with crisp white bedding (a tiny travel quirk of mine), and comfortable.

Gone Fishin’
While Jack could have spent his entire weekend playing by the pool and in the ocean, Kendal became quite the fisher(wo)man! By far the highlight of Kendal’s trip was when she caught her first fish off Pompano’s dock. The resort is rich in fishing history, and Kendal certainly made it her mission to soak it all in.

The Food
The kids loved the food, which we all know can be a tough feat! My personal favorite was the Bermuda chowder, and Jack wholeheartedly agreed – asking for a cup of “chowdah” (true to his Duxbury roots!) daily. Breakfast was included and all made to order. Pompano was very accommodating to Scarlett’s nut allergy, and made her special waffles each morning. The kids also enjoyed the tea offered daily, as Pompano stayed true to Bermuda’s British island roots.

We traveled off property two nights for dinner. We explored Hamilton and the Dock Yard; both family-friendly and felt very safe.

Taking It All In
The Bermuda island scenery is so picturesque. An idyllic, tropical feel with pastel (CORAL!) colored buildings, white roof tops, plenty of palm trees all surrounded by turquoise water. Simply, what more could you ask for?

We can’t wait to get back to Bermuda! Thank you Pompano Beach Club, we had a wonderful memorable stay at your gorgeous family resort.

Petit Peony Travels: Quintessential New England Getaway at Chatham Bars Inn

If you and your family are looking for a quintessential New England weekend getaway, look no further than the Chatham Bars Inn. The Bowen family had an amazing late-summer stay here in September, and we found the luxury, oceanfront property to be incredibly family-friendly – offering endless entertaining possibilities for our three young children, all while experiencing a memorable Cape weekend.

It was certainly one for the memory books!

FEATURES

Let’s face it, for kids, it’s all about the pool. Parents? It’s all about relaxation. The Chatham Bars Inn offers both with its incredible pool area, overlooking Chatham Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. How can you go wrong here?

**Coming Soon: Kendal & Scarlett loved testing out our new Petit Peony Swimwear collection, launching Spring/Summer 2018.**

Hungry? The Chatham Bars Inn offers delicious dining possibilities that cater to the little ones, while offering an upscale, yet casual, dining experience for the entire family. We opted for the Sacred Cod Tavern, which offers a fantastic children’s menu and coloring activities, while also catering to our SEVERE nut allergy. It’s always a challenge traveling with Scarlett, and the Chatham Bars Inn staff really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

(Scarlett's Apple Red & Navy Cord Jumper has been monogrammed, which we can do for most of our Petit Peony items.)

In the morning, be sure to grab breakfast in the main dining room. (We were delighted to find that children five-and-under eat for free, and have access to the complete buffet!)

What more could you say about the Chatham Bars Inn accommodations? Simply, they’re lovely. You can stay in the main hotel, which offers an exquisite, yet quaint, feel. It also has plenty of cozy, interesting rooms and fascinations for the kids to explore.

Or, if you’re traveling with a larger group or family, a seaside cottage may be the best choice! We stayed in a cottage overlooking the ocean, and it was perfect. Two queen beds, large bathroom, living room with a pullout sofa and a fireplace – perfect for a family of five!

(Here is an example of the décor and room ambiance. Perfection.)

The grounds are the perfect backdrop for family photos. We were able to shoot our Spring/Summer 2018 collection photos during our stay, and squeezed in a couple family shots!
